This butterfly can be found almost anywhere and is raised in schools to explain about the metamorphosis. The caterpillars are raised on artificial diet, this makes it easy for teachers to show the children.

You can raise the caterpillars on hollyhock, malva sylvestri or sunflowers but artificial diet is a lot easier and gives very good results.

The caterpillars are individally kept and can't contaminate each other if they are sick.
